Update:

Tigres, led on the field by Guido Pizarro, turned in an impressive regular season. They finished second in the league table and entered the playoffs as one of the favorites to win the Liga MX title. Even so, the club could face some meaningful departures heading into the next tournament.

Why Nicolás Ibáñez wants to leave Tigres

One of the players likely to leave is Argentine striker Nicolás Ibáñez. According to 356Scores México, Ibáñez has formally asked team executives to allow him to explore opportunities during the upcoming winter transfer window. The forward is no longer comfortable in Nuevo León and is determined to find a new destination.

Ibáñez: A proven scorer in Liga MX

Ibáñez has a strong résumé in Mexican soccer. He previously stood out with Atlético San Luis and Pachuca, showing the consistency and finishing ability that made him a sought after signing. He joined Tigres for the 2023 Clausura and has since scored 30 goals in 131 official matches.

He also helped Tigres win the 2023 Clausura title along with the Campeón de Campeones trophy. As of now, no formal offers have arrived, but interest is expected to pick up late in the year as several clubs weigh a move for the veteran striker.

In-demand Sebastián Córdova set to leave

Another player who may be on the way out is midfielder Sebastián Córdova, a product of Club América’s youth system. According to reporter Fernando Esquivel, Córdova has not agreed to a contract extension with Tigres and appears likely to depart.

The same report indicates that Juárez, Puebla, and Necaxa, along with two of Mexico’s so called big clubs, have already expressed interest in signing him. Nothing has been finalized, but Córdova is expected to have several options on the table.
