Santi Giménez situation is a headache for AC Milan

Santiago Giménez’s Italian adventure is hitting a rough patch. The former Cruz Azul standout, once hailed as one of Mexico’s brightest young strikers, has seen his progress stall.

Not only has his form dipped, but injuries have also taken a toll. The 24-year-old has missed his team’s last two matches and hasn’t found the back of the net since September, when he scored in a blowout win over Lecce.

Tension with Allegri?

Rumors are swirling about a strained relationship with head coach Massimiliano Allegri, who reportedly doesn’t see Giménez as a key piece of his squad. Italian outlets suggest that several clubs are monitoring the situation closely, ready to swoop in if the striker becomes available.

Milan’s dilemma

According to Calciomercato, Milan is seriously considering entering the transfer market to bring in a more complete forward—someone capable of commanding the entire penalty area. That move, however, hinges on Giménez’s departure. And suitors are lining up: Premier League sides Brentford and Sunderland have already expressed interest in acquiring him.

Giménez wants to stay

Despite the speculation, Giménez’s camp insists his priority is to stay in Serie A and prove himself with Milan.

His contract runs through mid-2029, making any immediate exit complicated unless a club is willing to pay a hefty fee. Transfermarkt currently values him at around $27 million.
