Ciudad de México Update:

Rayados are just days away from kicking off their run in the Apertura 2025 Liguilla. Even so, one storyline is drawing more attention than any other. Fans want to know if Sergio Ramos will extend his contract with the club.

When does Sergio Ramos’ Monterrey deal expire?

The Spanish defender’s deal with Monterrey expires in December 2025. There is still no agreement on a renewal. José Antonio Tato Noriega, the club’s sporting president, confirmed that talks are underway, although he kept details to a minimum.

Focus on América quarterfinal

Noriega said he does not want contract questions to distract the team as it prepares for its quarterfinal matchup against Club América. Other issues, he said, can wait.

“I get why people are curious, but right now we want to stay centered and focused on the field. I can tell you that yes, of course, there are conversations. That is normal. But I would rather not get into specifics because it takes attention away from what matters most now, which is thinking about where the team needs to be,” he told reporters.

Ramos makes future desire clear

Ramos joined Rayados in February and wasted no time becoming a locker room leader. He earned the captain’s armband and contributed both defensively and on set pieces, something that has defined his career despite playing as a center back.

The defender recently told the Spanish program El Chiringuito that he wants to stay in Mexico and continue with the club. The former Real Madrid star is 39 years old and remains a regular starter for Monterrey, which is chasing its first Liga MX title in nearly six years in this Apertura 2025 campaign.
