Pumas’ former Arsenal star leaves club in wake of dog drama
AS understands that Pumas have terminated the contract of Aaron Ramsey, who has already returned to Europe.

Aaron Ramsey’s stint in Mexico has come to a close. The Welsh midfielder has parted ways with Pumas following a heartbreaking personal incident involving his dog, Halo. The club and player mutually agreed to terminate his contract, and Ramsey has since returned to Europe to be with his family.
Ramsey leaves Mexico after Halo heartbreak
AS México has learned that Ramsey packed his bags and left Mexico in the wake of the disappearance of his beloved dog, Halo, in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato. The emotional toll of the incident led Ramsey to stop attending training sessions - something the Pumas front office could no longer overlook. As a result, the club opted to terminate the 34-year-old’s contract, a decision both parties agreed upon.
According to Transfermarkt, Ramsey was under contract with Pumas until June 2026. However, the emotional aftermath of losing Halo reportedly plunged the player into a deep depression, prompting his decision to return home to be with his loved ones.
Club to delay official announcement
For now, Pumas will not make an official statement regarding Ramsey’s departure. Out of respect for his career and due to contractual stipulations cited by the player’s representatives, the club has decided to hold off on any formal announcement until the conclusion of the Apertura 2025 season.
A short-lived chapter in Liga MX
Thus ends Ramsey’s brief chapter in Mexican soccer. The former Arsenal and Juventus star agreed to the termination, expressing a desire to take time off and focus on his family following the loss of Halo, who went missing in mid-October. Ramsey had offered a substantial reward for any information leading to her whereabouts, but more than two weeks have passed without any news.
Ramsey’s time in Mexico lasted less than six months. He arrived at Pumas as one of the marquee signings for the Apertura 2025, but his tenure fell short of expectations due to limited playing time. He made just six appearances for the club, starting in three matches and scoring one goal. His final outing in Liga MX came on September 27, in Pumas’ loss to Club América.
