Update:

The FIFPRO World XI was announced on Monday, revealing who professional soccer players believe to be the best on the planet.

Lamine Yamal made history by becoming the youngest player in history to make the men’s world XI. The 18-year-old breaks the record set by then-19-year-old Kylian Mbappé, who is also named in this year’s team.

FIFPRO World XI 2025: Gianluigi Donnarumma (PSG/Manchester City, Italy) - Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool, Netherlands), Achraf Hakimi (PSG, Morocco), Nuno Mendes (PSG, Portugal) - Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid, England), Cole Palmer (Chelsea, England), Pedri (Barcelona, Spain), Vitinha (PSG, Portugal) - Ousmane Dembélé (PSG, France), Kylian Mbappé (Real Madrid, France), Lamine Yamal (Barcelona, Spain)

Which team has the most FIFPRO World XI players?

Unsurprisingly, the treble-winning Paris Saint -Germain squad of 2024/25 has the most representation in the world team. Last season’s PSG have five players in the team: Donnarumma, Hakimi, Mendes, Vitinha and Dembele. Donnarumma has since left for Manchester City.

In terms of nationality, it’s a fairly even split with two players from each of England, Spain, France and Portugal. Morocco’s Hakimi is the only non-European player to make the team. With this year’s appearance Mbappé is now up to six appearances in the World XI, the most of any of this year’s team. However he is a long way short of Lionel Messi, who has been named to the FIFPRO World XI 17 times.

The FIFPRO World XI is the only award of its kind that is solely voted on by professional players. This year’s voting for the men’s and women’s teams involved more than 26,000 soccer players from 68 countries.
