Messi ‘responds’ to Cristiano: “Winning the World Cup is the ultimate achievement”
The Inter Miami captain was one of the main guests at the America Business Forum in Miami.

After joining Inter Miami in 2023, Lionel Messi is playing out, what will inevitably be his final years in MLS. The Argentine arrived in the US after winning the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and a bittersweet spell at Paris Saint-Germain with his objective to secure silverware for his new club alongside personal goals which included a place where his family could settle with certain harmony.
Moving to the United States has allowed the striker to explore new facets of his life, and on Wednesday the striker attended the America Business Forum in Miami and was one of the main guests interviewed.

After a series of questions about his life and the various changes in his career in recent years, following his move from Barcelona to PSG and later to MLS, Messi took the opportunity to respond to Al Nassr’s Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese striker recently stated as part of an interview with Piers Morgan that winning the World Cup is not a dream for him and that seven matches do not define his career, but the captain of Argentina disagrees with that stance.
Messi, world champion
When asked about the feeling of lifting the most important trophy in football, Messi declared: “The truth is, explaining the feelings of that moment is difficult. It’s hard to put into words what that title meant, on a personal level, on a family level, for my teammates, and for the country. It was clear how the country celebrated, the need and the desire we had for it to happen again after so much time had passed.”

“For me it was special. First, because for a player, winning the World Cup is the ultimate achievement. It’s like anyone in their job, any professional reaching the top. There’s nothing more after the World Cup. You can’t ask for anything more. And on top of that, I had been lucky enough to have achieved everything before. At the club level, at the individual level. We had also won the Copa América with the national team. That was the only thing missing. It was like closing out my entire career with that trophy,” he added.
