Gilberto Mora breaks silence on Real Madrid and Premier League interest
At just 17, Mora is attracting interest from Europe’s biggest clubs, and could star at the 2026 World Cup with Mexico.

All eyes are on Gilberto Mora. The 17-year-old Mexican midfielder has impressed with his confidence on the field and maturity off it. His performances with Mexico’s national team at the Gold Cup and U-20 World Cup have put him firmly on Europe’s radar.
Manchester United join Real Madrid in tracking Mora
During the U-20 World Cup, Mora stood out enough to be linked with powerhouse clubs like Real Madrid and Manchester United. The buzz around him is growing fast, but the Tijuana talent isn’t letting it get to his head. Mora has shown a strong mindset, staying focused on improving his game despite all the speculation.
“I’ve managed to get the attention of several clubs,” Mora told ESPN. “But I try to focus on my soccer, on what I do on the field. That’s what really matters, and the rest will come naturally.”

How much will Gilberto Mora cost?
For now, the rumors remain just that, but it’s clear Mora is viewed as one of Mexico’s next big exports. In Tijuana, club officials are well aware of his potential, and according to reports, Xolos are expected to set his transfer price at around $30 million.
Eyes on the 2026 World Cup
The 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted in North America, is a major goal for Mora. After proving himself at the Gold Cup, he’s already on the radar of Mexico’s senior national team coach Javier Aguirre.
“It’s a dream to represent my country in the best way possible,” Mora said. “I know my abilities, and I believe I can contribute a lot. Javier Aguirre is a great coach, the right man to lead us at this World Cup.”
Mentality key for Mora
What sets Mora apart isn’t just his skill but his mentality. Born in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas, the young player believes mental strength is what separates good players from great ones.
“Mentality is crucial for any soccer player, especially if you want to reach the top level,” he explained. “You have to keep a winning mindset, always pushing for more.”
“I’ve always tried to have that mentality, to get better every day,” Mora added. “I still have a lot to learn, but with that mindset, I believe I can play for the biggest clubs.”
