Former Real Madrid prospect says yes to Mexico
According to reports, Club América midfielder Álvaro Fidalgo has finally decided to represent Mexico.

After months of speculation, it looks like the rumors are finally coming true. According to early reports from journalist Gibrán Araige, Club América’s Spanish-born midfielder Álvaro Fidalgo - who recently completed the naturalization process to become a Mexican citizen - has agreed to represent Mexico at international level, having called the country home for nearly five years.
“Álvaro Fidalgo will be a player for the Mexican National Team! He’ll be called up in January to train with El Tri during the microcycle in Central America. His debut is expected in March,” Araige shared via social media.
As of now, no opponents have been confirmed for the March FIFA window. Still, Mexican Football Federation President Ivar Sisniega stated in a recent press conference that the federation is actively seeking high-caliber opponents - ideally European sides - for what would be the final tune-up before the 2026 World Cup.

Fidalgo would follow in Berterame, Quiñones footsteps
If everything goes according to plan, Fidalgo would join Germán Berterame and Julián Quiñones as the latest naturalized players to be integrated into the national team setup. The question now becomes: will they earn a spot on the World Cup roster, or will their naturalization ultimately prove fruitless?
