Update:

Manchester City have a tough game against Bournemouth this weekend as they look to bounce back from a recent loss to Aston Villa.

Last weekend’s 1-0 defeat to Villa was a frustrating afternoon for Pep Guardiola’s side, compounded by a late injury to Erling Haaland. The Norwegian forward collided with the goalpost in the late stages and appeared to pick up a knock. He sat out the midweek trip to Swansea City, sparking concern over his available for the Premier League visit of the Cherries.

Fortunately for Guardiola he will be able to call upon the No. 9 again on Sunday, confirming at Friday’s press conference that Haaland is fully fit.

Is Rodri playing for Manchester City this weekend?

There was more good news for City fans when it came to the status of Rodri, who recently suffered another setback on his return from a serious knee injury. The former Ballon d’Or winner was ruled out for the majority of the 2024/25 season and suffered a hamstring injury against Brentford earlier this month.

But after another few weeks on the sidelines Guardiola revealed that he expects the Spaniard to feature at some point against Bournemouth.

“I think he’ll be ready to help, I don’t know if from the beginning but hopefully he can be with us,” he said. “He’s been out a few times and we know how important he is for us.”

He may well be needed, as City take on a Bournemouth team that have proved to be one of the big surprise packages of the new Premier League season. The Cherries have picked up 18 points from their first nine games and they now sit second in the table, two points ahead of fifth-placed City.
