Next week, Cruz Azul will kick off a grueling battle against Chivas Guadalajara, in the quarterfinals of the Liga MX Apertura 2025 playoffs. In the meantime, there’s movement within the squad: according to César Luis Merlo, attacking midfielder Mateusz Bogusz - who has seen his role diminish significantly - could be living his final days at La Noria, with a potential exit during this winter transfer window.
It’s worth noting that a challenging stretch lies ahead for Nicolás Larcamón’s side - not only because of the domestic playoff run and how far they can go, but also because the Intercontinental Cup is looming. That tournament is scheduled to begin in the second week of December, meaning Cruz Azul will need solid squad depth if they hope to make a deep run in both competitions.

What are Bogusz’s Cruz Azul stats?
The 24-year-old Polish playmaker arrived in Liga MX during the Clausura 2025 with a relatively quiet but intriguing profile. The former Los Angeles FC man quickly showcased his quality, but the sudden departure of Martín Anselmi and limited opportunities under Vicente Sánchez pushed him down the pecking order. Under Larcamón, little has changed.
In total, Bogusz has featured in 37 matches across Liga MX, Leagues Cup, and the CONCACAF Champions Cup, contributing just three goals and seven assists. Notably, Transfermarkt reports his contract with Cruz Azul runs through December 2026. However, the same source indicates a move could materialize as Bogusz seeks a fresh start due to his lack of playing time, with interest coming from MLS and even European clubs.
