Cristiano Ronaldo reveals the most expensive thing he’s ever bought
Cristiano Ronaldo spoke to Piers Morgan in a personal interview.

At 40, one of Cristiano Ronaldo’s biggest challenges and greatest unknowns will be whether he can reach 1,000 career goals. While matches continue, the Portuguese star sat down with journalist and presenter Piers Morgan, with whom he had previously shared an interview, to discuss his current situation. The conversation will be released in two parts.
During an exchange at Cristiano’s home in Saudi Arabia, the Portuguese international recalled how he almost signed for Arsenal before joining Manchester United, after impressing against John O’Shea. Mentioning the Red Devils led him to reflect on the club that brought him so much glory. “I’m sad because one of the best teams in the world, and one that I hold dear, needs to build a future... The club lacks structure. I hope they change their approach because the potential is enormous,” he said.
The Al Nassr striker also commented on Rubén Amorim and his role on the bench. “Miracles are impossible. The team has good players, but they don’t have the mentality of Manchester United,” he remarked.
According to Piers Morgan, Ronaldo became the first footballer to reach billionaire status at the age of 39—something the player admitted had always been one of his goals. “I knew I would become a billionaire. I was prepared. I was super happy. I wasn’t obsessed with money, but when you reach a certain level, it doesn’t matter as much. Money is important, finances are important, but there are more important things,” he reflected.
The captain of the Portuguese national team described himself as someone who cares deeply about his surroundings, his finances, and the people close to him, paying attention to the most important aspects of his life. Still, he emphasised that at this stage of his career, he “lives and breathes football 24/7” to remain in peak condition—a commitment that has made him a world-class role model.
Despite turning 40 and remaining a top international player, Cristiano did not shy away from discussing retirement. “I’ll be ready to retire. I imagine it often; I might even cry. I’m an emotional person. It will be very difficult, but I’ve been preparing for my future since I was 25 or 27... I’ll be ready to handle that pressure,” he said. Although he admitted that “nothing will replace football when I retire,” the Portuguese star added that he wants to devote more time to his family and learn new things once his playing days are over.
Speaking about his ongoing desire for growth, Ronaldo told Piers Morgan that he has never focused on emulating any particular player. “I watch the teams. I watch Brazil because of the players they have, Argentina, Spain... Football has many stars,” he explained, adding that he now tries to see things from a coach’s perspective—something he has worked on since being substituted against Hungary after scoring twice in a match that Portugal eventually drew.
Unconcerned by public perception, Cristiano admitted, “I don’t care if people think I’m arrogant. If you look at many football records, Cristiano is there. It’s just another thing. I know my potential, both in and outside football. Money isn’t the biggest motivation for playing football, but it helps.”
Cristiano Ronaldo tells Piers Morgan he thinks he will retire 'soon' - but 'nothing' will compare in his life to football.

In a lighter moment, Ronaldo spoke about some of the luxuries he has enjoyed, revealing that the most expensive thing he has ever bought was a private jet. Over time, however, some of his passions—like collecting cars—have faded. Turning his attention to family, he described how he proposed to Georgina Rodríguez and reflected on how losing a child brought them closer together, something he said he is deeply proud of.
