Club América news could spell trouble for Liga MX rivals
As the playoffs approach, América are getting healthy again, with key players returning just in time for a title push.

With just weeks to go before the start of the Liga MX liguilla (playoffs), Club América are getting healthy again at exactly the right moment.
The Mexico City powerhouse are chasing the top spot in the Apertura 2025 standings but face stiff competition from Toluca, Cruz Azul, Monterrey, and Tigres. As the regular season nears its end, there’s finally some good news coming out of Coapa.

Sánchez and Zúñiga return for América
Midfielder Erik Sánchez is set to rejoin the first team after missing the last two matches. Meanwhile, striker Raúl Zúñiga has also recovered from injury and will be available for the upcoming clash with León.
Key players remain uncertain
There are still question marks surrounding two stars: captain Henry Martín and French winger Allan Saint-Maximin. The latter took a heavy knock in last weekend’s game against Mazatlán, and the coaching staff are reluctant to take unnecessary risks with him.
América still eyeing Liga MX top spot
Under head coach André Jardine, América currently sit fourth in the overall table with 31 points, the result of nine wins, four draws, and two losses. With the postseason looming, every point will count as Las Águilas aim to enter the playoffs in peak form.
América complete the league phase with a home game against James Rodríguez’ León on November 1, followed by a trip to top-of-the-table Toluca, who they currently trail by just two points, on November 8.
