Update:

Jannik Sinner capped off a phenomenal season with his fifth title of the year at Paris-Bercy - his first ATP Masters 1000 crown of 2025 - and reclaimed the No. 1 spot in the world rankings, overtaking Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz. The Italian’s triumph came as Alcaraz bowed out in the round of 16, ending his seven-week reign atop the ATP standings.

Sinner’s surge to the summit was powered by the 1,000 ranking points he earned in Paris, pushing his total to 11,500. Meanwhile, Alcaraz dropped 90 points, slipping to 11,250. But the battle for year-end No. 1 is far from over. With the ATP Finals looming, Alcaraz still has a clear path to reclaim the top spot.

If the Spaniard wins three matches in Turin, he’ll lock in the No. 1 ranking heading into next season. Alternatively, a single group-stage win - provided it gets him to the semi-finals - followed by a victory there could also be enough. Should Alcaraz fall short, Sinner would need to win the Finals outright to secure his place at the top.

ATP rankings - current top 10:

  • 1. Jannik Sinner: 11,500 points
  • 2. Carlos Alcaraz: 11,250
  • 3. Alexander Zverev: 5,560
  • 4. Taylor Fritz: 4,735
  • 5. Novak Djokovic: 4,580
  • 6. Ben Shelton: 3,970
  • 7. Alex de Minaur: 3,935
  • 8. Felix Auger-Aliassime: 3,845
  • 9. Lorenzo Musetti: 3,685
  • 10. Casper Ruud: 3,235

Final spot in Turin still up for grabs

While seven players have already punched their tickets to the ATP Finals in Turin — Alcaraz, Sinner, Zverev, Djokovic, Shelton, Fritz and De Minaur — the eighth and final spot remains undecided. It’s a two-man race between Felix Auger-Aliassime and Lorenzo Musetti.

Auger-Aliassime currently holds the edge, but Musetti has one last chance to overtake him next week in Athens, where 250 points are on the line. The Italian trails the Canadian by just 160 points, setting the stage for a dramatic finish to the regular season.
