Golf analysts call it like it is: Kai Trump playing at the Annika LPGA tournament “is a stunt”
Debate rages around Donald Trump’s granddaughter Kai Trump playing in the Annika LPGA tournament with many seeing her inclusion as a publicity stunt.

The discussion around Kai Trump playing in the Annika LPGA tournament in Florida continues to be divided, with many seeing her inclusion as a publicity stunt or a strategic move to boost tournament exposure.
Kai Trump, the granddaughter of President Donald Trump, is playing because she received a sponsor exemption from the tournament host, Pelican Golf Club. This is a common practice in professional golf, but her invitation drew significant attention.
Tournament organizers and LPGA officials have openly stated that her large social media following (nearly 9 million across platforms) is a major reason for the invite. They believe her notoriety and reach will help elevate the event and grow women’s golf to new, younger audiences.
Critics point out that her current junior golf ranking (around 461st in the Rolex AJGA Ranking and not in the top 3,000 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking) does not typically warrant an exemption into a high-level LPGA event, especially the penultimate event of the season. They feel the spot should go to a more highly ranked or deserving player.

Kai Trump herself stated that it is an opportunity to live out a dream and an “incredible experience” to compete with her heroes. She is an aspiring professional golfer who is committed to the University of Miami’s team.
