Alcaraz’s tricky path to regaining the number one ranking at the ATP Finals

The path to becoming a master in Turin has already been laid out and Carlos Alcaraz now knows what he is require to do in order to recover the number one ranking which Jannik Sinner snatched from him after his poor showing in Paris.

In the draw held this Thursday in the northern Italian city, the player from Murcia was placed in the Jimmy Connors group alongside Taylor Fritz (4), Novak Djokovic (5), Taylor Fritz, and Alex de Minaur (7). He will not face any of the same opponents in this round as in the previous edition, where he played against Alexander Zverev, Casper Ruud, and Andrey Rublev.

Italian Sinner, is part of the Bjorn Borg group, in which he will face Zverev (3), Ben Shelton (6) and Auger-Aliassime (8) or Lorenzo Musetti (9), everything will depend on what the Italian does in the ATP 250 in Athens that is being played this week, in which Djokovic is also competing.

The top two players from each group will face the runners-up from the opposite group in the semi-finals before the grand final, which will crown the current season’s Master.
