You’re fired: Giants make ruthless roster decision after costly mistake in shocking Week 7 defeat
Irish-born kicker Jude McAtamney takes blame for missed extra points as Giants collapse against Broncos.

The New York Giants have reacted to their stunning Week 7 collapse against the Denver Broncos by cutting kicker Jude McAtamney, whose two missed extra points played a major role in the loss at Empower Field.
Giants blow 19-point lead in final quarter
Brian Daboll’s team entered the fourth quarter with a commanding 19-0 advantage, only to allow 33 points in the final period and suffer a 33-32 defeat.
Questions have naturally been raised about the Giants’ defense, but McAtamney has become the fall guy as the dust settles on the team’s fifth loss in seven games.
Missed kicks prove costly
The Irish-born kicker missed two critical extra-point attempts that likely would have secured New York a second straight win.
McAtamney’s first miss, which would have extended the Giants’ lead to 14-0 before halftime, went wide left. More crucial, however, was his failed kick after a late touchdown with just 37 seconds remaining, leaving the score at 32-30.
Moments later, the Broncos marched down the field and set up Will Litz for a 39-yard field goal, which sailed through the uprights to seal a dramatic comeback win for Denver.
McAtamney accepts responsibility
After the game, McAtamney faced reporters and took full responsibility for his errors.
“Got to make the kicks. I’m not going to shy away from that. I’ll take full responsibility. If the snap’s not perfect, the hold’s not perfect, I’m a professional kicker. I’ve got to be able to make those… The ball was there, the laces were good. I’ve just got to make a play.”

He can return to practice squad without taking up a roster spot because of international exemption, but not sure if that's the plan yet.
So, either Younghone Koo or Graham Gano this week.
Giants cut McAtamney
Three days later, McAtamney, who also missed a PAT in the Week 6 win over the Philadelphia Eagles, was released by the Giants. The undrafted rookie joined the team in 2024.
According to The New York Post’s Ryan Dunleavy, McAtamney could still return to the Giants’ practice squad under an international exemption, though that remains uncertain.
