Will Jaxson Dart play for the Giants against the Packers in Week 11? New York QB’s injury report
Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart is in concussion protocol, leaving the Giants to consider Jameis Winston or Russell Wilson as starter.

The New York Giants begin life without now-former head coach Brian Daboll against the Green Bay Packers in Week 11, and they are also expected to be missing rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart.
The Giants had to finish Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears without Dart after the 22-year-old was ruled out with a concussion.
Dart took a heavy hit in the third quarter and was forced to leave the field. He was evaluated in the blue medical tent and was not fit to return.
Who will be the Giants’ starting QB against the Packers in Week 11?
With Dart in concussion protocol, he cannot return to action until he clears it. According to ESPN NFL insiders Adam Schefter and Jordan Raanan, Dart will not start against the Packers. Veteran Russell Wilson, who had been the team’s starting quarterback at the beginning of the week but was benched in favor of Dart in Week 4, will also not start.
Wilson replaced Dart against the Bears, but his introduction coincided with New York blowing a 10-point lead. To make matters worse, the 36-year-old was sacked late in the game, setting up Chicago’s game-winning touchdown drive.
Schefter and Raanan report that Jameis Winston is expected to start ahead of Wilson against the Packers.
Why the Giants fired Brian Daboll
Brian Daboll lost his job on Monday, just 24 hours after the Giants blew a significant fourth-quarter lead for the fourth time this season in a defeat to the Chicago Bears. New York became only the second team since the NFL merger to lose after holding a double-digit lead with less than four minutes remaining.
The Giants were 2-8 after 10 games for the third straight season under Daboll. Hired in January 2022, the 50-year-old finished with a 20-40-1 record, which deteriorated over time: 11-33 since the start of 2023 and 5-22 since the beginning of 2024.
Mike Kafka steps in as interim head coach
Daboll’s immediate replacement is Mike Kafka, who has been serving as the Giants’ assistant head coach and offensive coordinator. Kafka will now take over as interim head coach, starting against the Packers.
Despite several names being linked to the Giants, multiple reports suggest Kafka will fill the role for the final seven games of the regular season, with no permanent appointment currently planned.
Rookie Dart continues to impress despite team struggles
Despite the Giants’ overall struggles, Dart has impressed since joining the team. The rookie quarterback has masterminded victories over the then-unbeaten Los Angeles Chargers and the Philadelphia Eagles. In the win over the reigning Super Bowl champions, Dart joined Patrick Mahomes as the only quarterbacks since 1991 to lead their team to an opening-drive touchdown in each of their first three career starts.
