Update:

San Francisco 49ers’ coach Kyle Shanahan has been dealing with a seemingly never-ending injury list since the season started. Ahead of the Week 8 trip to Houston, the Niners have 16 players listed on the IR, although some are slowly returning and a couple have been elevated this week.

San Francisco’s casualty room emptying out

Cornerback Renardo Green returned to full practice Thursday after being listed as limited on Wednesday while recovering from turf toe. Christian McCaffrey and Trent Williams both returned after being rested and Upton Stout is now over his ankle issues.

Not so lucky was Linebacker Luke Gifford who went from being limited to sitting out Thursday’s practice with a hamstring injury.

George Kittle was activated from the Injured Reserve list and was back in action against the Atlanta Falcons last week, although it was an underwhelming return for the tight end who failed to record a single catch.

Kittle had been on Injured Reserve for five weeks after suffering a a Grade II hamstring in the opening game of the season. Against the Seahawks in Week 1, he finished with 4 receptions, 25 yards and one TD.

The six-time Pro Bowler is available for Sunday’s game at NRG Stadium.
