Update:

Keon Coleman will be a surprise absentee from the Buffalo Bills’ Week 11 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, with multiple reports indicating he will not suit up because of a coach’s decision.

Why Coleman was ruled out

According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, Coleman’s absence is “not performance based,” and the wide receiver had “a strong week of practice.” Instead, Schultz reported that “the team wants to see more from him in other areas.”

ESPN’s Adam Schefter added more context, reporting that a Bills source told him Coleman missed a team meeting on Friday morning. “Until then, the Bills planned to play him, but their plans changed when he missed the meeting,” Schefter wrote on X.

A costly loss for Buffalo

Coleman is the Bills’ No. 2 receiver in targets, catches and touchdowns, and No. 3 in yards. Losing him is a significant blow, and coach Sean McDermott is making a big call on a key part of his offense.

Buffalo clearly hope the decision helps Coleman regain his focus as they push for a seventh straight postseason appearance over the next few weeks.

Bills’ recent form

After opening the season with three consecutive wins, the Bills have been inconsistent. They have three victories and three defeats in their last six games. Their 6-3 record places them second in the AFC East. They enter the Bucs clash three games behind the division-leading New England Patriots.

McDermott’s team currently occupy one of the three AFC wild card spots, although several teams remain close behind.
