Update:

The Denver Broncos (9-2) have enjoyed a superb start to the 2025 NFL season but have been dealt a blow by the news that J.K. Dobbins will not only miss the Week 11 game against the Kansas City Chiefs, but is also expected to be absent for the rest of the season.

Super Bowl hope after foot ligament tear

The running back is due to undergo surgery after tearing a ligament in his foot. According to NFL Network insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, Broncos sources explained that Dobbins had hoped to take another course of action, but ultimately decided surgery was his best option after consulting with experts.

The good news, per Pelissero, is that doctors believe the 26-year-old could be fit to play in Super Bowl LX on Feb. 8, if Denver gets there.

Dobbins’ impressive start in Denver

Dobbins has had an impressive start to his spell with the Broncos. Through Week 10, he led the team with 153 carries, four rushing touchdowns and 772 rushing yards, the fifth highest total in the league.

The former Raven’s absence means head coach Sean Payton will have to lean more heavily on RJ Harvey, Tyler Badie and Jaleel McLaughlin.

Denver star posts message to fans

Following the news, Dobbins posted a defiant message aimed at both detractors and supporters on social media: “For those who will count me out again… Thank you. For those who are with me on this ride… stick with me! You will love what God has planned next.”
