These NFL teams get a break in Week 9 to regroup, rest up and get ready for the rest of the demanding 2025 season.

Which NFL teams have a bye week in Week 9?

NFL bye weeks come around every season, a time in which each NFL team has a week off from competition that gives players and coaches a chance to recharge and reset.
As you might expect, these weeks are hugely beneficial for both players and coaches. The former group use the downtime to recover physically and mentally while the latter often spend the break at their office desks, reevaluating strategies and adjusting game plans.
Here’s how the bye week system works: for the 2025 season, bye weeks span from Week 5 through Week 14, with no teams off in Week 13. The number of teams resting varies each week, with as many as six taking a break at once (which came this season in Week 8).
Here are the teams which have a bye week in Week 9:
Cleveland Browns
The Browns need to figure out their offense and who is the best quarterback to lead the team. After a few weeks of Dillon Gabriel and his unimpressive stats, many fans are calling for Shedeur Sanders to get his chance.

New York Jets
The Jets finally got their first win in Week 8 against the Bengals. They’ll have a week to enjoy the feeling of victory and have a chance to also figure out who is the best quarterback to lead them the rest of the season.

Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles are comfortable atop the NFC East with a three-game cushion over the Cowboys and Commanders. Could we see another Eagles vs Chiefs in the Super Bowl? It’s looking like a repeat at this point in the season as they are two of the best teams in the league.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Don’t tell Baker Mayfield that he’s not going to the Super Bowl. The veteran quarterback is on the top his game and has helped his team find a way to win six times this year. Watch out for the Bucs!
