The New England Patriots have unveiled a striking new alternate uniform called the “Nor’easter,” and it has already turned plenty of helmets across the NFL. The design is more than just a style refresh; they say it’s a nod to the team’s regional roots and identity with a modern twist.

In a sharp departure from their usual garb, the uniform features a dark “Storm Blue” jersey together with white pants and a matte white helmet.

According to the official release statement, the blue represents the rough seas and cold skies of a New England winter, while the white adds a clean contrast that evokes the image of a snowstorm. The shoulder logo, a stylised “NE” resembling a compass design, connects the look directly to the region’s nautical heritage.

Visually, it is one of the Patriots’ most distinctive uniforms in years, and one that has gone down superbly well with fans of the team and across the NFL in general. There are subtle nods to the past, including a number font reminiscent of older Patriots kits and thin striping that recalls the aesthetics of 1990s football uniforms.

Unfortunately, as is the way with the modern world of sport in the U.S., fans will have to pay a pretty penny to get their hands on the jersey.

The men’s custom game jersey from Nike is priced at US $189.99, as listed on the team’s official Pro Shop page. Women’s shirts start at $139.99 and for the kids, a jersey will set you back $109.99.
