Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers got a much needed blowout win over the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday Night Football from Sofi Stadium.

Herbert hit Tre Harris in the middle of the end zone to cap off a much needed win for this Chargers team that everyone said had a chance at making noise in the AFC. After a couple of underwhelming weeks, this team is starting to take shape again, and they are 5-3 and heading into a mini BYE. The Vikings are shrouded in doubt with a 3-4 record, no run game and no clarity at the QB position.
Minnesota got into the end zone in the third quarter, but Carson Wentz had a rough night from LA. He came into the game with an injured left shoulder and it showed on Thursday night. He went 15/27 for 144 yards for 1 TD and 1 INT and got sacked 5 times.
Right before the half, Herbert found one of his favorite targets Ladd McConkey on this 27 yard TD connection to take a three score lead and the Chargers would cruise to victory from there.
After holding the Vikings to a three and out LA went right back down the field and doubled their advantage with a TD run from Kimani Vidal. The Chargers running has taken a few hits with their top RBs going down but Vidal has 117 of the 207 yards on the ground on Thursday night.
The Los Angeles Chargers came into their Thursday night game needing a win to turn things around in the City of Angeles and they delivered with a blow out win over the Minnesota Vikings. Justin Herbert threw for 3 TDs in the comfortable win from Sofi Stadium.
The Chargers defense got an early stop on the Vikiings banged up offense, and Herbert led a 14 play drive to start the night. He hit Oronde Gadsden in the back of the end zone to give the Chargers a lead they would keep all night.

This Thursday night game is in danger of getting out of hand. Herbert finds McConkey with a 27 yard TD pass to stretch the lead to 21-3, and that is how LA goes to half after the Vikes missed a 53 yard field goal to end the half.
After forcing MIN into a three and out, the Chargers moved right down the field again, and it was Vidal taking it into the end zone to double the lead early in the 2nd half.
It's been all LA from the start. Justin Herbert came out and led a long, 14 play drive that took up most of the first quarter and put the Chargers up 7-0 with a TD pass to Gadsden on this 8 yard pass.

Reichard and the FG unit got on to the field in time but he left the 53 yard field goal short and that's how the 1st half ends! Big mistake there from the Vikes and LA goes into the half up three scores.

LA get the ball around midfield and it takes them a matter of four minutes to right down the field and double their lead with an 8 play drive that is polished off by Vidal's 3 yard run for a TD.
LA lead 14-0 with just over 13 minutes left in the first quarter.
Minnesota go three and out and have to punt as their offense hits another snag to start the game after Wentz gets sacked.

LA get the ball from their 17 to start their night and they go right down the field with a long 14 play drive to take a 7-0 lead.
Herbert drove his team right down the field and he hits Gadsen in the end zone with an 8 yard TD to get on the board and take the lead from LA.
The VIkes get the ball to start the game after the Chargers win the toss and differ.
MIN pick up a first down to start the game but are forced to punt after a first down completion to Jefferson.

NFL's leading QB
The Chargers may be slumping, but they have the NFL's top passer. Tonight they are going to need him to be locked in to beat a VIkings side that is looking to get back in the win column.
McCarthy sidelined again
The Vikings went all in on their young QB who missed his rookie season with injury. This year he was named the starter and was expected to lead this team that was one of the best in the NFC last year to a similar regular season campaign. JJ McCarthy got injured in the second game of the season with 2 TDs and 3 INTs in his first two games in the NFL. He has been on the sidelines for the last couple games watching Carson Wentz under heavy pressure for opposition defense. The question is, when will head coach Kevin O’Connell entrust his young QB to take the reigns and what will it look like when the finally is under center.

It’s been an up and down journey for Justin Herbert with the Chargers. He has a QB coach in Jim Harbaugh and since he has come to town Herbert has taken his game to the next level, but injuries have made it tough for him to lead his team to wins. He had two 300 yards in the first three games and those were all wins, but since then injuries have made things tough for Herbert who has had to carry the team on his back without his top RBs. Tonight is is again going to have to be the man, but he has to keep the turnovers down against a Vikings team that will be looking to tee off on him.

The Vikings have had to make due with their back up quarterback for the last few weeks. He has had a tough time establishing the offense since his arrival. He started against the Bengals and passed for 173 yards and led the Vikes to a win with two TDs. Since then he has had two 300+ yard games but they both came in losses. The problem with Wentz and the Vikings is their slow starts. Tonight they have to get up early and keep that lead the whole night against a volatile Chargers offense.
Chargers last game
The Chargers had a flat start to their game against the Colts going down 23-3 at half-time and then it was up to Justin Herbert to try and get them back into the game. He passed for over 400 yards but that wasn’t enough to stop Johnathon Taylor from rushing for 94 yards and three TDs. The Chargers dropped to 4-3 while the Colts improved to 6-1 on the season.
Vikings last game
The Vikings hosted the Eagles last week and got off to a terrible start from The Bank. Jalen Hurts got off to a a great start tossing a 37 yard TD to A.J. Brown early in the game and then Jaylx Hunt took an interception to the house to put the Eagles up 14-3 early in the 2nd quarter. Hurts continued his fantastic day throwing an 80 yard TD to DeVonta Smith to put the Eagles up 21-9 and they were able to hold off a late come back from the Vikings in the 4th quarter.

They have lost three of their last four and are sliding down the standings after a great start to the season. Tonight they take on a Vikings team that is up in the air right now.
