Update:

A freak accident has ruled Trevon Diggs out of the Dallas Cowboys game against the Washington Commanders on Sunday.

Diggs has been added to the Cowboys’ injury list as Out (Concussion) after an accident at his home on Thursday. ESPN reports that Diggs was forced to undergo the league’s concussion protocol after the incident and will not be available to feature this weekend.

“This is the NFL and if you’re unsure what’s going to happen just wait because something is going to happen,” Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer said. “And you deal with it, and you don’t lose sleep over it. The biggest thing is just the concern for Trevon that he’s OK. But seems like he is.”

Diggs has been a regular for Dallas this year since recovering from surgery on his left knee back in January. Despite a niggling right knee concern in recent weeks he has still contributed 20 tackles and two pass deflections this season.

“It doesn’t change,” Schottenheimer said, when asked if Diggs’ absence might bring about a change of system. “We adjust always when you get into game day, but it doesn’t change. It’s a good plan. I like the plan. We have to go out and execute the plan. It’s going to come down to us going out and playing well against a really good Commanders offense.”

But in better news for the Cowboys, CeeDee Lamb looks set to return to the team against the Commanders. He has been out with an ankle injury since Week 3 and said that he was “happy as can be” to be back on the practice field this week.
