As the Detroit Lions get ready to kick off the 2025 NFL preseason early with the Hall of Fame Game this Thursday (July 31), tight end Sam LaPorta has taken on a new role... off the field. LaPorta is now a husband after marrying his long-time girlfriend Callahan Dellinger - now Callahan La Porta.
Who is Callahan (Callie) LaPorta?
Sam and Callie met when they were attending college at the University of Iowa, where Sam was a tight end for the Hawekeyes football team. It’s not clear exactly when the couple started dating, but Callie uploaded her first photo of them together on Instagram in December 2019.
Th two have been inseparable ever since. Callie was at the 2023 NFL Draft when Sam was selected 34th overall by the Lions, and after graduating with a degree in Business Administration, she went with him to Detroit. According to her LinkedIn, she is now a sales analyst at Cooper Street Snacks.
By February 2024, the couple was engaged, sharing photos from their beach engagement on social media.
This summer, the two officially tied the knot in a private ceremony on June 14, 2025. Callie posted a photo of the newlyweds with the caption, “A house built on rock”.
For Sam, it’s been an eventful year. He had a 15-win season with the Lions in 2024 followed by a Divisional loss to the Washington Commanders to now being a married man. He and Callie even had their marriage blessed by the Pope Leo XIV in Rome. Sam now enters his third season in Detroit as one of the Lions’ biggest stars.
