The strict NFL rule for Dolphins vs Commanders: Bernabéu follows U.S. steps
The NFL is giving fans ample notice of the strict security measures that will be in place to access the stadium on Sunday.
Although the game will be played in Madrid, the NFL is firmly in charge, and that means the security measures for Sunday’s matchup between the Dolphins and Commanders may surprise a few fans. To avoid any unpleasant surprises, NFL Spain has been alerting attendees to the strict protocols – especially regarding bags and backpacks, whose access to the venue will be tightly limited, just as it is at games in the United States and other international fixtures.
“To ensure a safe environment for fans, a clear bag policy (along with security checks) will be enforced at the NFL Madrid Game. All clear bags entering the stadium must not exceed 12 x 6 x 12 inches (30.5 x 15.25 x 30.5 cm) and will be inspected upon entry. The NFL reserves the right to deny entry to certain items if security deems them inappropriate,” the league warned, noting that only a few approved bags remain available for purchase. Non-transparent handbags must be no larger than 4.5 x 6.5 inches (11 x 16 cm).
Given the forecast of possible rain, the list of prohibited items notably includes umbrellas with fixed rods, while folding umbrellas will be allowed as long as they measure under 24 inches (61 cm).
