The New Orleans Saints are shaking things up at quarterback for Week 9 of the NFL season. The team will give rookie Tyler Shough his first career start this Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams, after he came off the bench late in the loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Shough, a second-round pick in the 2025 draft, had been backing up Spencer Rattler, who started the first eight games of the season but has led the Saints to a bleak 1–7 record. The Louisville product completed 17 of 30 passes for 128 yards and threw one interception in relief against Tampa Bay. Now, he’ll have the chance to prove himself as New Orleans searches for stability at the position.

Rattler, meanwhile, endured another nightmare outing last Sunday, turning the ball over twice – including a pick-six – against the Bucs. Just a week earlier, he had thrown three interceptions in the defeat to the Chicago Bears. The coaching staff’s patience has run out, and with the season slipping away, the Saints are betting on fresh energy from their young signal-caller.
