NFL trade deadline: Five of the top players who could switch teams
Ahead of the NFL trade deadline on November 4, we take a look at a quintet of major candidates for a move.

Breece Hall - RB, Jets
A running back now in his fourth season in the NFL - he was a second-round pick for the New York Jets in 2022 - Breece Hall is having a productive campaign despite playing in a historically bad Gang Green team.
The Jets started 0-7 in 2025 - only the third time they’ve endured such an opening to a season - before finally ending their winless streak in Week 8. Hall ran for 133 yards and two touchdowns in the 39-38 win over the Cincinnati Bengals - and his season total of 581 rushing yards places him among the NFL’s top 10 RBs.
“Even though first-year coach Aaron Glenn has shunted rumors [of a trade] aside, the new regime has to take the long view, and there’s a window to sell high here,” says USA Today NFL expert Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz. “If made available, Hall would stand alone as the most appealing ball carrier available”.
ESPN’s NFL insider Dan Graziano agrees that a trade before the league’s November 4 deadline makes sense. “I expect running back Breece Hall - who isn’t signed beyond this season - to be among the Jets’ players headed elsewhere during their bye week [in Week 9],” Graziano writes.
Trey Hendrickson - DE, Bengals
A nine-year NFL veteran who joined Cincinnati from the New Orleans Saints in 2021, Trey Hendrickson has been pinpointed by observers as a clear contender for a trade, as the 3-5 Bengals seek to build beyond 2025.
Sports Illustrated’s Gilberto Manzano notes that suitors “will need to monitor Hendrickson’s hip injury”, but declares: “The Bengals should look toward the future and prioritize acquiring a high draft pick by trading Hendrickson, who has four sacks this season.”
ESPN analyst Ben Solak concurs that ‘Cincy’ should “unquestionably” do a deal for Hendrickson. “This season is lost and he has only one season remaining on his deal,” Solak argues.
“Getting multiple picks to retool their defense with talented youth is a better short- and long-term plan for the Bengals than extending the almost-31-year-old pass rusher who has dealt with injuries this season.”

Jakobi Meyers - WR, Raiders
A wide receiver in his seventh season in the NFL, Jakobi Meyers is keen to leave the Las Vegas Raiders and is attracting the interest of “multiple teams” across the league, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
A player who joined the Raiders from the New England Patriots in 2023 - having signed with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent four years earlier - Meyers requested a trade out of Nevada in August.
Speaking to reporters earlier this month, the 28-year-old, who is in the final year of his contract, said he “for sure” still wants a move, per ESPN.
Meyers, whose trade request came after he failed to agree a new deal with the Raiders, has a 58% chance of leaving by November 4, per a recent list of major trade-deadline candidates compiled by the betting experts Oddschecker.

Chris Olave - WR, Saints
A first-round pick for the New Orleans Saints in 2022, wide receiver Chris Olave represents “an enticing target for any passing attack seeking a little midseason juice”, says USA Today’s Middlehurst-Schwartz.
Although he’s in a 1-7 Saints team that has been the worst in the NFC in the first eight weeks of 2025, Olave is the league’s fifth-ranked WR in receptions this season, with 52 for 503 yards and three touchdowns.
“He’s producing at a high level with two 98-yard games, so the Saints may actually be open to selling high on the often-injured receiver before the situation heads south again,” says Oddschecker analyst Peter Alexis. Oddschecker gives Olave a 55% chance of a trade.
Jaelan Phillips - LB, Dolphins
Picked in the 2021 first round by Miami, offensive linebacker Jaelan Phillips is being linked with a departure from Florida, as the 2-7 Dolphins already begin turning their attentions to rebuilding for 2026 and beyond.
Phillips “has a real chance of being moved”, declares Sports Illustrated’s NFL writer Gilberto Manzano, while ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler agrees the 26-year-old is a realistic candidate for a trade. “Moving a pass rusher feels like the most likely outcome if something goes down,” Fowler says.
Alexis adds that the former Miami Hurricanes player is an attractive proposition for potential buyers: “Despite battling significant knee injuries in past seasons, the young edge rusher remains highly valued around the league.”
