NFL insider reveals if Shedeur Sanders will replace Dillon Gabriel as Browns’ starting QB: “Simply not good enough”
Cleveland’s offense continues to struggle, but reports suggest head coach Kevin Stefanski isn’t planning to give Sanders his NFL debut anytime soon.

The Cleveland Browns have endured a difficult start to the season, but Shedeur Sanders is highly unlikely to be given a chance to help turn things around, according to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio.
Quarterback chaos in Cleveland
The Browns’ quarterback problems have summed up their struggles. With Deshaun Watson ruled out for the entire season because of a ruptured Achilles, veteran Joe Flacco was named starting QB. His return, however, was short-lived. The 40-year-old committed a league-high eight turnovers in Cleveland’s first four games, which led to him being benched in favor of rookie Dillon Gabriel and later traded to the Cincinnati Bengals a few days afterward.
How much better can we realistically expect Shedeur Sanders to be than Dillon Gabriel?

The Browns were 1-3 with Flacco as the starter and have gone 1-3 since Gabriel took over. With Cleveland sitting at the bottom of the AFC North, fans have again called for Sanders to get his first opportunity. But that doesn’t look likely to happen anytime soon, with Florio reporting that head coach Kevin Stefanski “isn’t thinking about playing Shedeur Sanders.”
Browns to stick with Gabriel
Instead, Cleveland is expected to stick with Gabriel, who has shown “flashes of potential,” the “PFT Live” host claimed. Rather than putting all the blame on the quarterback, he believes the Browns “simply aren’t good enough” across the board.
Flacco’s surprising resurgence with the Bengals may back that up. The veteran threw for a career-high 470 passing yards, four touchdowns, and two interceptions in a loss to the Chicago Bears in Week 9, suggesting the Browns’ problems go far deeper than the QB position.
Stefanski not “focused” on QBs
After the Browns’ heavy defeat to the New England Patriots on October 26, Stefanski said that replacing Gabriel with Sanders wasn’t his “focus.” For now, the rookie QB will have to bide his time and wait a little longer for his first taste of NFL action.
