Update:

The NFL trade deadline brought some major shakeups, and fantasy football managers are already feeling the impact. The headline moves saw Rashid Shaheed traded from the Saints to the Seahawks and Jakobi Meyers moving from the Raiders to the Jaguars. While the trades didn’t involve every star in the league, the ripple effects on fantasy lineups are significant.

Trade deadline moves that could change your fantasy playoffs

Rashid Shaheed joins Seattle

Shaheed’s move to the Seahawks doesn’t drastically change his fantasy value, but it alters the dynamic for other players on the roster. Reuniting with offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, whom he played under in New Orleans, Shaheed could see a boost in touchdowns and overall opportunities.

Rookie Tory Horton, who had a hot Week 9, may now see his target share fluctuate, turning him into a high-variance option. Jaxon Smith-Njigba, meanwhile, remains Seattle’s go-to receiver, anchoring the team’s fantasy stability.

The ripple effects extend to Shaheed’s former team as well. Chris Olave steps further into a true No. 1 receiver role, and Juwan Johnson’s consistency elevates him to low-end No. 1 tight end consideration. Even lesser-known receivers like Devaughn Vele could see incremental opportunities, making them sleeper candidates in deeper leagues.

Jakobi Meyers heads to Jacksonville

Meyers lands in a Jaguars offense plagued by injuries at wide receiver. This opens immediate opportunities for him as a dependable option for Trevor Lawrence. While he isn’t a highlight-reel player, his ability to contribute across multiple receiver roles makes him a flexible asset for fantasy managers. Parker Washington may experience some impact, but he remains viable, especially if injuries persist.

The Raiders, on the other hand, gain potential in Tre Tucker and rookie Jack Bech. With Meyers gone, both players could see expanded roles, giving managers intriguing targets in fantasy lineups and deeper leagues alike.

Wider fantasy implications

Adonai Mitchell was part of the Sauce Gardner trade to the Jets and could emerge as a No. 2 receiver behind Garrett Wilson in deeper leagues and dynasty formats. Breece Hall remains with the Jets, maintaining his role as a solid No. 2 fantasy running back. Tight ends like David Njoku, Chigoziem Okonkwo, and Michael Mayer saw no trades, leaving their fantasy values largely unchanged.

For fantasy managers, these trades prove that opportunity drives value. Shaheed and Meyers may not be immediate superstars, but their moves create ripples that change the prospects of multiple teammates. Adjusting lineups, scouting potential sleepers, and paying attention to target shares can be the difference between a midseason surge and a missed playoff chance. Sometimes it’s not the headliner trade but the secondary shifts that define your fantasy success
