Update:

Week 9 of the 2025 NFL season should see a few first-choice quarterbacks return from injury, including two-time NFL Most Valuable Player Lamar Jackson.

Jackson has missed the last three Baltimore Ravens games due to a hamstring injury, a stretch that has seen the Ravens slip to a 2-5 record in the AFC North. The Ravens listed Jackson as a full participant in team practice all week and he has no injury designation.

He returned to limited practice last week but did not play in last Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears. Jackson looks set to make his on-field returned in this week’s Thursday Night Football, when the Ravens take on the Miami Dolphins.

Quarterbacks return from injury

Also looking to make a comeback this week is J.J. McCarthy, who has been out with an ankle injury since Week 2. The timing could not be better for the Vikings with backup Carson Wentz added to the injured reserve list this week. Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, McCarthy sounded excited to make his return.

Amazing. Ready to go,” McCarthy said. “I feel like myself again. I feel like I had those mobility things that I was concerned about going into last week and the prior weeks. So, yeah, ready to go.”

Elsewhere in the league, the Arizona Cardinals are expected to welcome back quarterback Kyler Murray for the Monday Night Football game against the Dallas Cowboys. Murray recently returned to team practice after recovering from a foot injury.

The Carolina Panthers are hoping that quarterback Bryce Young will be back in contention after missing last weekend’s loss to the Buffalo Bills. Young had been sidelined with an ankle injury but returned to full practice participation this week.
