Update:

Jason Kelce has had enough of New York Giants fans flooding his social media over the tush push.

The retired Philadelphia Eagles center addressed the latest controversy surrounding the play on this week’s episode of “New Heights”, the podcast he co-hosts with his brother, Travis Kelce. The topic came up after a disputed call in Sunday’s Eagles vs Giants game, when officials blew an early whistle that wiped out a potential Giants fumble recovery on a Jalen Hurts quarterback sneak.

Jason Kelce claps back at Giants fans: “Stop blaming me for the tush push”

The play, another variation of the Eagles’ signature tush push, drew outrage from Giants players and fans alike, who argued Hurts’ forward progress hadn’t stopped before the ball came loose. But according to Jason Kelce, the criticism has been wildly misplaced.

“I know everybody wants to get into the tush push again,” Kelce said. “I don’t see how this has anything to do with the tush push. Officials miss forward progress calls all the time.”

Kelce went on to say he believes the refs did miss the call. “I think his momentum was still going,” he admitted, while emphasizing that mistakes like that are part of the game, not evidence that the Eagles’ signature short-yardage play is unfair or illegal.

Then he aimed straight for Giants fans.

“One of my favorite things about the whole thing is Giants fans being livid at the officials, tweeting at me,” Kelce said. “I’m like, y’all are getting your asses whipped...what the f*** are you talking about the officiating for? What game are y’all watching? How about you yell at your safety for not tackling? When you’re getting your ass whipped, let’s look at you a little.

The Eagles went on to beat the Giants 38–20, continuing their dominance in the NFC East and improving to 6–2 on the season. The disputed whistle came early in the second quarter, and two plays later, Hurts found Saquon Barkley for a touchdown that helped Philadelphia stay in the lead.

Giants edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux expressed his frustration after the game, calling the ruling “some bulls***” before teammate Brian Burns quickly reminded him that criticizing officiating could lead to a fine.

Kelce, for his part, said he doesn’t think players should be fined for disagreeing with officials.

“I do not like complaining about officials. Never have,” he said. “But I also don’t think you should be fined for saying what you think. That’s nonsense. It was a bad call, it happens.”

The tush push, a play in which the Eagles line up tightly behind Hurts and use multiple players to shove him forward on short-yardage downs, has been a hot topic across the NFL. Despite pressure from some owners to ban it, the play survived the league’s offseason vote and remains legal for now.

Still, as long as the Eagles keep succeeding with it, and winning games against rivals like New York, Jason Kelce may need to keep his social media inbox closed.

“Every time something happens with that play, somehow it’s my fault,” Kelce joked.
