Update:

Jason Kelce isn’t buying the talk that the Philadelphia Eagles are falling apart. On SportsRadio 94WIP this week, the recently retired Eagles center addressed growing speculation around wide receiver A.J. Brown’s public frustrations, saying the situation has been blown out of proportion by media coverage.

“It’s not as big of a deal as the media’s making it to be,” Kelce said. “There’s frustrations. In football, there’s constantly frustrations building up within teams, within position groups, within coaches and players. That’s the course of a season.”

What’s going on with A.J. Brown?

Brown has made headlines over the past two weeks for cryptic social media posts and postgame comments expressing dissatisfaction with his role in the Eagles’ offense. During a stretch in which Philadelphia dropped three of four games, the All-Pro wideout appeared visibly frustrated on the sideline and later hinted online at “needing more chances.”

Kelce acknowledged that Brown’s emotions can sometimes spill out publicly, but said that’s part of who he is, not a locker-room crisis.

“Sometimes he just, his personality, he lets this out in a more open way, or does it in a way that makes it more public-facing,” Kelce explained. “But once it’s already been stated, like, they’re trying to get him the ball. At this point, it’s like, what are we gaining from continually talking about this?

Kelce also said Brown remains well liked inside the building and that his passion comes from wanting to win, not from selfishness.

“He’s a guy that wears his heart on his sleeve,” Kelce said. “He was a great teammate in my time there. I understand his frustrations … That position in particular is very reliant on multiple people. It’s a very frustrating position to play at times.”

While the drama has dominated sports talk radio and social media, Kelce urged perspective, pointing out that similar flare-ups happened last season, and the team still finished as Super Bowl winners.

“They had this all happening last year, and everything turned out pretty darn good,” Kelce said.

As for the Eagles’ outlook moving forward, Kelce remains confident the team will regroup.

“None of this makes me think any less of A.J. as a teammate,” he said. “I think very highly of him as a player. And I think that ultimately, the Eagles will be very good moving forward.”
