Jakobi Meyers could be on the move, and these teams are watching closely
Trade buzz is heating up again around Jakobi Meyers, the Raiders’ reliable wideout who requested a trade before the season after extension talks stalled.

Jakobi Meyers wanted out months ago. Now, the Las Vegas Raiders might finally be ready to listen. Despite trying to hold things together through a rough start, Las Vegas is weighing its options for the veteran wideout. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler says the team has a “strategy” for how to handle Meyers, and with playoff teams in need of receiving help, the clock is ticking before the deadline hits.

Meyers on the move
At the start of the 2025 season, Meyers had requested a trade because he wanted to negotiate a new contract, which comes to an end after this season. Although he didn’t get the contract extension or a trade, Meyers continued to play for the Raiders without making a fuss, but now that the team is open to a trade, it looks like a real possibility.
Meyers, 27, remains one of the most efficient slot receivers in the NFL, but his production has dipped amid the Raiders’ offensive inconsistency. He is coming off his first 1,000-yard season and has nearly 5,000 career receiving yards. He’s also posted at least 67 catches and 800 yards in each of the last three seasons.
But as Las Vegas leans toward a youth movement with Tre Tucker, Jack Bech, and Dont’e Thornton, dealing Meyers now could warrant valuable draft capital. Though Fowler reports that Las Vegas isn’t “actively shopping” him, the team is open to discussions, and several contenders are watching closely.
Two teams have emerged as logical fits:
- The Pittsburgh Steelers, who are seeking a proven No. 2 target behind D.K. Metcalf to help veteran QB Aaron Rodgers.
- The Buffalo Bills, who need a reliable possession receiver after back-to-back losses exposed depth issues behind Stefon Diggs.
The Bills enter their bye week searching for answers on offense after back-to-back losses, and USA Today’s Nick Brinkerhoff believes help could come via trade. With the passing game sputtering and Josh Allen under constant pressure, Brinkerhoff identified Meyers as the Bills’ most realistic trade target ahead of the NFL deadline.
Biffalo’s offense has lacked reliable options beyond Stefon Diggs, and Meyers’ route-running and short-area consistency make him a logical fit. While names like A.J. Brown and Chris Olave have surfaced in speculation, Meyers stands out as the most attainable and impactful target for Buffalo’s playoff push.
For the Steelers, the timing couldn’t be better to trade for Meyers. Sitting at 4–1 and chasing their first AFC North crown since 2020, Pittsburgh has been searching for a true No. 2 option behind D.K. Metcalf to complement new quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Meyers’ consistency makes him an ideal fit in the short-to-intermediate passing game.
Given his contract status and versatility, Meyers profiles as one of the most realistic midseason trade chips ahead of the November 4 trade deadline, whether it’s to the Steelers, Bills, or elsewhere.
