Houston Texans their own worst enemy as Seattle Seahawks put them to the sword
The Seattle Seahawks defeated the Houston Texans thanks to the AFC South team's multiple errors.

The Seattle Seahawks closed out Week 7 of the 2025 NFL season on a high note, defeating the Houston Texans 27–19 at Lumen Field. The NFC West squad capitalized on an early lead and a series of mental errors from the visitors to secure the victory.
Seattle jumped ahead early, putting up 14 points in the first quarter. The opening touchdown came on the ground with a run by Zach Charbonnet, though most of the drive’s yardage came through the air from Sam Darnold (17-for-31, 213 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT) to tight end Elijah Arroyo, on completions of 27 and eight yards. The Seahawks extended their lead with an 80-yard drive capped by a Jaxon Smith-Njigba touchdown catch as the first quarter clock expired.
Seattle tried to get creative with a trick play featuring Cooper Kupp, but the wide receiver’s pass was intercepted by Calen Bullock. Houston finally got on the board with a 36-yard field goal from Kaʻimi Fairbairn with 2:22 left in the half.
The Seahawks attempted to answer, but Denico Autry blocked Jason Myers’ 53-yard field goal attempt. A 29-yard completion from C.J. Stroud (23-for-49, 229 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT) to Jaylin Noel set up another Fairbairn kick, this time from 46 yards, trimming the deficit to 14–6 at halftime.
Stroud opened the second half with an interception. Targeting Nico Collins, the third-year quarterback was picked off by Ernst Jones IV after pressure from Josh Jobe. The Seahawks advanced to Houston’s seven-yard line but had to settle for a 26-yard field goal from Myers.

Houston responded with a defensive touchdown when Will Anderson sacked Darnold, stripped the ball, and recovered it in the end zone. The Texans’ two-point attempt failed, as Dalton Schultz couldn’t haul in Stroud’s pass.
Seattle countered with 10 straight points, aided by a Houston turnover on downs. After a field goal, the Seahawks regained possession at the Texans’ 41-yard line and needed only five plays for Charbonnet to notch his second rushing touchdown of the game.
It looked as though Mike Macdonald’s team would cruise from there, but a fumble by Elijah Arroyo reignited Houston’s hopes. The tight end was hit by M.J. Stewart, losing the ball, which Azeez Al-Shaair recovered.
Darnold later threw his first interception, but the play unraveled for Houston after Derek Stingley Jr. was flagged for unnecessary roughness. The cornerback picked off the pass but ripped Smith-Njigba’s helmet off during the return, drawing a penalty that nullified the turnover.
