Gronk shares his thoughts on Tom Brady cloned dog and his new QB twin: Football just got really weird

The news that Tom Brady had his dog cloned caught his close friend and former teammate Gronk by surprise: “I had absolutely no clue.”

Gronk says he would never clone his Ralphie

Update:

Gronk was a guest on the Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams recently where he addressed one of the most pressing topics of the day, that Tom Brady’s dog Junie is a genetic clone of his beloved pit bull mix Lua.

He shared that he had “absolutely no clue” that his close friend and former teammate was going to do it. What was “really wild” for him though is that his wife Camille had told him a neighbor had cloned their French Bulldog just before the news went viral about Brady’s dog.

However, Gronk said that he would never have his own Frenchie, Ralphie, cloned.

Why Gronk won’t clone his dog

The four-time Super Bowl winner told Adams that he doesn’t worry about having to clone Ralphie because “he’s going to live forever.” Quipping that that’s what he and his wife say a minimum of five times a week.

The real question with cloning though for the former tight end is that “they take the piece of DNA and they clone the dog and it replicates the same exact look, but the personality is not the same,” he shared.

“And that’s what you kind of really want in a cloned dog is the personality.” Adding, “you can fall in love with the looks, but you truly fall in love with a dog because of their personality.”

Is Drake Maye a clone of Tom Brady?

Adams continuing with the topic of cloning asked Gronk if he thinks that the New England Patriots’ emerging quarterback Drake Maye is Tom Brady’s clone. “I mean there’s kind of similarities in ways,” he said with a laugh.

He pointed Maye has similar baby fat and blown-up cheeks like Brady did at the beginning of his legendary career. As well, Maye sports a similar hair style as the young Brady and the smile to boot.

“So, this is a possibility Kay you might be onto something. What are you an investigator?” Gronk mused.

Where would a 2011 Gronk clone play?

As for if it were possible to clone “2011 prime Gronk,” Adams asked which team he would play for. “I would go back to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers,” he said. " I feel like I would be the missing piece.”

While he admits that the team had “a pretty solid tight end in Cade Otton,” their playing styles are different.

“We would counter off with each other very well at the tight end position we could go double tight plenty of times,” Gronk said. “I think I would be able to take that offense with Mayfield to a whole nother level if 2011 Gronk was out there.”
