Update:

New York Giants rookie QB Jaxson Dart is fast making a name for himself in his debut season in the elite, and earning praise from his team mates - the latest of whom to sing his praises was OT Jermaine Eluemunor.

Dart, a first round (25th overall) pick in this year’s Draft, started the campaign as backup to Russell Wilson but after the Giants crashed to three successive defeats (losing to the Commanders 21-6, Cowboys 40-37 and Chiefs 22-9), head coach Brian Daboll decided the team’s offense needed a shakeup.

Dart impressed in his NFL starting debut against the Los Angeles Chargers on September 28. He threw for 111 yards and one touchdown, and scored a rushing touchdown in the 21-18 win.

Dart takes over from Russell

With Dart taking over from Russell as QB1, the Giants fell to the Saints in Week 5 but returned to winning ways defeating Jalen Hurts and the Eagles 34-17 in Week 6’s edition of “Thursday Night Football”. The 22-year-old threw for 195 yards and a touchdown and also added 58 rushing yards and another score on the ground.

Dart has received compliments from his teammates - Linebacker Brian Burns was impressed with him during the preseason: “He was consistently just making plays. And he was making plays that rookies don’t really make, in my opinion,” he enthused on ‘The Schultz Report’ podcast.

This week, Jermaine Eluemunor joined the growing list of cheerleaders. The Giants OT recently said that he has been waiting his entire career to play with a guy like Dart.

“In my career, I’ve been around Tom Brady, but I wasn’t a starter. I’ve been around Lamar [Jackson], obviously two of the best to play the position. And I’ve been around a lot of great quarterbacks but with Dart, it’s kinda like that... it’s just different,” Eluemunor explained on the Up and Adams show.

Eluemunor on playing with Jaxson Dart

I’ve practiced with Tom, I’ve practiced with Lamar - and that’s not me putting any expectations on him at all. It’s really cool to be in a huddle with guys like that where they have no fear, and a lot of the quarterbacks I play with have no fear but with him it’s just, knowing that he’s back there and he can make crazy plays. It’s the coolest thing ever.

“I’ve watched Lamar do that, I’ve watched Caleb do that, Pat Mahomes, Josh Allen... all these guys just make crazy plays like that with there feet,” he continued. “He’s a playmaker. He’s a very, very creative playmaker, one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet and he just makes you wanna go out there and do everything you can to make sure he doesn’t get hit. We’re out there throwing our bodies on the line, sacrificing ourselves so that he can stay clean. And he feels the same way, that’s the thing - that’s how much he wants to win. He’s had a positive effect on this team and everyone’s buying into it and feeding off the energy that he brings.

You just know you’re gonna get his best every single game. He’s gonna go out there for 60 minutes, he’s gonna give it everything he has and as an offensive lineman, if you’re not doing that too and you’re not matching that, then you’re failing him. All five of us, every single one of us want to go out there and protect that kid with our lives and make sure we do everything humanly possible to make sure he wins the game”.
