Eagles without key offensive piece for Giants rematch

The Philadelphia Eagles will be without three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver A.J. Brown for this Sunday’s game against the New York Giants.

The Eagles will be out for revenge after the Giants inflicted a shock 34-17 defeat on the Super Bowl champions earlier this month. Brown put up two touchdowns in last weekend’s win over the Minnesota Vikings but has since suffered a hamstring injury.

NBC Sports reports that Brown has not taken part in Eagles practice all week and was formally listed as ‘out’ on Friday afternoon. Brown is yet to miss a game this season and has recorded 29 catches for 395 yards so far.

Brown’s absence is another injury blow for the Eagles. Center Cam Jurgens and defensive end Brandon Graham have been with ruled out of Sunday’s game due to fitness concerns. Also out are Adoree’ Jackson (cornerback), Azeez Ojulari (edge rusher) Jakorian Bennet (cornerback) and Darius Cooper (wide receiver). Cooper would be a possible alternative to Brown in some plays but, as of Friday afternoon, he remains on the Eagles’ injured reserve list.

Despite some struggles this year the Eagles still lead the NFC East with a 5-2 record, comfortably ahead of second-placed Dallas Cowboys. But head coach Nick Sirianni will be eager to build some momentum through the regular season and Sunday’s game offers a chance to exact some revenge on the Giants.
