Broncos rookie running back makes NFL history with rare touchdown hat trick
Coming off a promising outing in Week 7, Harvey entered Sunday’s matchup looking to build on the momentum, and he did that and more. On his very first carry of the game, the former UCF standout ripped off a 40-yard touchdown run, the longest of his young NFL career. It was a statement play that set the tone for what became a career day.
Harvey struck again later in the first half, this time taking a direct snap in a wildcat formation and racing into the end zone for his second score. It was a nod to his college days at UCF, where his versatility and athleticism made him a nightmare for opposing defenses.
But he wasn’t done. In the fourth quarter, quarterback Bo Nix found Harvey on a play-action pass that the running back turned into his third touchdown of the day, capping off one of the most impressive rookie performances in the league this season. Harvey became one of only a handful of first-year players in recent memory to record a touchdown hat trick.

Through eight weeks, Harvey now has five total touchdowns, putting him among the league leaders for rookie skill players. His blend of speed, vision, and playmaking has added a new dimension to Sean Payton’s offense.
In total, Denver’s running backs racked up 172 all-purpose yards and three scores against Dallas. The win also marked back-to-back strong showings for the Broncos, who have scored 77 points in their last two games.
For Harvey, the breakout could be just the beginning. With his dynamic playmaking and growing trust from Nix and Payton, he’s carving out a vital role in Denver’s evolving attack.
