Former NFL star Antonio Brown was extradited from Dubai to face attempted murder charges in Florida after a boxing event incident from May 2025.

Former NFL star Antonio Brown is back in U.S. custody after being extradited from Dubai, nearly six months after authorities accused him of attempted second-degree murder with a deadly weapon. The 37-year-old ex-wide receiver, who has been living abroad since the incident, was reportedly apprehended by U.S. federal agents and flown to the New York metropolitan area this week before being transferred to South Florida.

According to TMZ, the charges stem from a May 2025 altercation at an Adin Ross–hosted boxing event in Florida, where Brown allegedly attempted to shoot a man identified as Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu. Brown, however, has maintained that he acted in self-defense, claiming he was being targeted and robbed during the chaos.
What happens next for Antonio Brown
Now that Brown is back on U.S. soil, he will likely be booked into the Miami-Dade Department of Corrections, where he is expected to face formal charges of attempted second-degree murder. Legal experts say Brown could be held without bond until an initial hearing determines whether he poses a flight risk, which a real possibility given his time overseas.
If convicted, the former All-Pro receiver could face decades in prison, as Florida law treats attempted murder with a deadly weapon as a first-degree felony. His defense team will almost certainly argue self-defense, a claim Brown has already made publicly.
Once one of the NFL’s most electric players, Brown’s career has long been overshadowed by controversy, from team disputes and erratic behavior to arrests and legal battles. His latest arrest marks the most serious chapter yet in a saga that has unfolded far from the football field.
