Detroit Lions defensive end Aidan Hutchinson has been one of the NFL’s best edge rushers since he was drafted in 2022. The former No. 2 overall pick from the 2022 NFL Draft has rebounded strongly this season after suffering a season-ending leg fracture last year.
Through seven games this season, Hutchinson has six sacks, six tackles for loss, 13 QB hits, and an NFL-leading four forced fumbles, including a streak of five straight games with at least one sack. Over his career, he’s totaled 34.5 sacks in 46 games.
The deal cements Hutchinson as a cornerstone of Detroit’s defense alongside other recent extensions for Amon-Ra St. Brown and Penei Sewell, reflecting the Lions’ commitment to locking up their young core.
The Lions return from their Week 8 bye to host the Minnesota Vikings this Sunday.
