Aaron Rodgers sparks concern for Steelers ahead of Week 9 game vs. Colts
Veteran QB quickly resumed reps, but Pittsburgh kept a close eye on Rodgers as backup Mason Rudolph waited.

Aaron Rodgers momentarily set alarm bells ringing in the Pittsburgh Steelers camp, with the veteran quarterback appearing to suffer a hand injury during warmups before the Week 9 game at home against the Indianapolis Colts.
Ahead of kickoff, the 41-year-old was seen flexing his hand multiple times, clearly in discomfort after taking a snap from center Zach Frazier. The exact nature of the issue was not completely clear, but it appeared Rodgers may have jammed a finger while warming up.
Steelers monitor Rodgers during warmups
The four-time MVP was able to take all his normal reps in warmups and started the game as expected. Still, the incident gave the Steelers some cause for concern, as they wondered whether the issue could flare up later in the game.
They needn’t have worried, however, with the veteran QB leading the team to a fine 27-20 victory at Acrisure Stadium.

Rodgers has a 4-3 record through seven regular-season games since joining Pittsburgh. The Steelers are hoping to avoid a third consecutive defeat against the Colts after losses to the Cincinnati Bengals and Green Bay Packers in Weeks 7 and 8.
Who is Rodgers’ Steelers backup Mason Rudolph?
If something were to happen to Rodgers, Mason Rudolph would be next in line. Rudolph rejoined the Steelers in March after a year with the Tennessee Titans. The 30-year-old has never started a full season as a starting quarterback and owns a 9-8-1 record in 18 NFL starts, but went 1-4 with the Titans last season.
