Aaron Rodgers left Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals to be evaluated for a left wrist injury suffered late in the first half. Backup quarterback Mason Rudolph took over for the rest of the matchup, which ended in a 34-12 win for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Rodgers hit twice on the same drive

Rodgers, 41, appeared to get hurt during a drive near the end of the second quarter. Cincinnati’s defense hit him illegally twice on the same series, resulting in two roughing-the-passer penalties.

Before exiting, Rodgers completed 9 of 15 passes for 116 yards and one touchdown, giving Pittsburgh a 10-9 lead at the time. Rudolph finished 12 of 16 for 127 yards and a touchdown.

The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that initial tests carried out at the stadium showed Rodgers had suffered a minor fracture in his left wrist. Head coach Mike Tomlin said in his postgame news conference that the veteran quarterback will be re-evaluated on Monday.

Rodgers, who throws right-handed, has indicated he will be able to return to action “soon,” according to sources.

The win moves the Steelers to 6-4 and keeps them at the top of the AFC North. They visit the Chicago Bears next week.
