Update:

Amid a COVID-19 disaster, historic impeachments, pulling out of the Iranian nuclear deal, the killing of Qasem Soleimani, the Stormy Daniels scandal, and an attack on the Capitol, the approval ratings of the 45th US President were historically disastrous.

Now, Donald Trump has just surpassed, in a negative sense, those numbers, with a recent national survey showing that only 37 percent of American adults approve of his job performance.

The recent numbers, gathered by CNN, show that a staggering 63 percent of the American population disapprove of Trump’s work in his second term. That disapproval figure edges past his previous high of 62 percent, which he recorded in January 2021 as the then-President was departing the White House. Oh, that was Trump, too?

Trump, who rightly dressed up as himself for Halloween, will tell you otherwise, consistent in his messaging that he is doubleplusgood at Presidenting.

Back to the poll. Conducted between 27 and 30 October 2025 among 1,245 adults, it paints a bleak picture of public sentiment; nearly seven in ten respondents (68 percent) say things in the United States are going “pretty or very badly”.

Perhaps most noteworthy is how Trump’s repetitive narrative of economic strength and decisive leadership is failing to resonate. Only 27 percent believe his policies have improved the economy; 61 percent say they have made it worse. On foreign policy, 56 percent believe his administration has damaged the United States’ global standing.

For the upcoming mid‐term elections, the implications are serious. The survey finds that 41 percent of voters say their ballot would be a statement against Trump; only 21 percent say their vote would signal support for him. Among independent voters, a key demographic, many are clearly drifting away.

Taken together, this latest polling suggests that Trump’s second presidency is tracking worse than his first. With approval at 37 percent, this matches or even dips below the lows from his initial term, and his disapproval at 63 percent is now the worst of either era.
