Travel solo? This cruise is made just for you — only solo travelers allowed

Setting out on an adventure alone has been growing in recent years. Solo Travel was listed as a top emerging trend in 2025 reports Forbes, “with 76% of Millennials and Gen-Z planning solo trips this year.”

Beginning in June 2027, solo travelers will be able to enjoy an entire river ship dedicated to others traveling alone. Riviera Travel says it’s launching a “first-of-its-kind program” to take 68 passengers on the MS George Eliot for cruises on the Danube, Rhine and Moselle rivers.

“With growing demand for even more solo departures, we knew it was time to dedicate an entire ship to this thriving segment of the market,” said Stuart Milan, president of North America for Riviera Travel. “With this announcement, we are proud to take the next step in redefining solo travel and to offer an all-new luxury river cruise experience.”

Luxury boutique hotel on the water

Passengers on the MS George Eliot will enjoy plenty of space. The 70-cabin ship is designed to carry 132 passengers. This means that each of 68 guests will have ample space with a double cabin all to themselves complete with an en-suite bathroom with shower.

Other onboard spaces include a bar and lounge, bistro, and sun deck as well as splash pool. Guests can also take advantage of the boutique gift shop, hairdressing salon and laundry service during their cruise.

What do solo travelers get on the Riviera Travel river cruises?

The eight-day, seven-night cruises range in prices depending on the itinerary as well as lodging choice with prices starting from $4,399 to $5,799 per person. The following are the four exclusively solo traveler itineraries from Riviera Travel starting June 2027.

• Rhine Cruise to Switzerland for Solo Travelers
• Rhine and Moselle River Cruise for Solo Travelers
• Rhine, Strasbourg and Heidelberg River Cruise for Solo Travelers

Guests get meals, an all-day drink package, guided shore excursions and other experiences with their fare. Passengers will also have access to an expert tour manager that specializes in solo travel.
