Texas faces more flash floods, warns Abbott: These are the regions under threat
Gov. Greg Abbott issued a statement on Sunday predicting “life-threatening danger over the next 24 to 48 hours” for residents.

Officials in Texas are warning that the danger is not passed as forecasters predict more heavy rain in the regions destroyed by the recent flash flooding.
Speaking on Sunday Texas Governor Greg Abbott revealed that 41 people are still missing in connection with the floods and outlined the on-going risk to life.
Abbott said: “We’re in Austin today as opposed to Kerrville because of deadly storms have swept across central Texas and areas outside of the Kerrville area and because of more expected storms that will pose life-threatening danger over the next 24 to 48 hours.”
He continued, “I want to emphasize, however, even though we now are broadening the area that we’re focused on, we are not at all reducing our focus on Kerrville.”
He added that Kerrville is still “a key focus in so many different ways. We continue 24/7 operations to search for anybody who was affected by that deadly storm.”
In addition to Kerrville, Abbott said that Big Country, Concho Valley and Central Texas are the regions most under threat in the coming days. He said that resident in those high-risk areas “need to realize, for one, you’re in an area with land that’s already saturated with water. But for another, when more water comes down, it could lead to rapid flash flooding events.”
As of 5pm ET on Sunday evening, the confirmed death toll stood at 71 across the region. With 59 fatalities, Kerr County was by far the worst-affected county in the states. There were also 5 deaths in Travis County, 3 deaths in Burnet County, 2 deaths in Kendall County, 1 death in Tom Green County and 1 death in Williamson County.
