The Australian Broadcasting Corporation recently aired an episode of its investigative journalism program Four Corners which looked into how President Donald Trump and his family are making millions of dollars off crypto. In the piece titled Chasing Trump’s Billions’, John Lyons spoke to Nick Pinto, who was an early investor in the $TRUMP crypto coin.

The 25-year-old plopped $370,000 into the Trump token hoping to have the chance to meet the president face-to-face at a dinner to which the top 220 investors would be invited. He made number 72 on the list, but he left the meme coin gala disappointed.

“The entire dinner was about making money,” he told Lyons.

He paid $370,000 to have dinner with Trump and all he got was a lousy hat

The dinner had been advertised as “Have dinner with Donald Trump.” However, the influencer said in a TikTok video that he filmed during the event that the president spent only a brief time there before leaving.

Trump came, gave a speech for, I think, exactly 23 minutes, and then he left. His helicopter was right back there, left pretty quickly, didn’t stay for the dinner. Maybe he’ll come back,” he told his followers.

He shared with Four Corners that he hadn’t wanted to take up much of Trump’s time but just get a quick video “maybe 15 seconds” with the president. However, that opportunity never came. “He came, didn’t eat, didn’t drink water. I don’t think he even used the bathroom. He just left immediately on his helicopter,” Pinto explained.

When asked if he felt that he was “ripped off” by the whole affair Pinto said, “I would say in a way, I do feel like I maybe kind of got scammed because it was definitely false advertising.”

“They did advertise it as having dinner with Trump. And Trump did not eat anything at all. At least just drink a Diet Coke with us or something like that. We definitely would not have felt like we were scammed by him,” Pinto explained.

He didn’t leave the meme coin gala empty handed though. He got a black cap with ‘$TRUMP’ and ‘FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT’ on it which he wore during the interview.

While he still supports Trump’s investment into cryptocurrency he told the Daily Beast in a statement, “I look at Trump differently than I did before attending.”
