Her primary role involves handling the initial deep-cleaning stage in highly challenging conditions. “Cleaning brings in more money than a regular 9-to-5 job,” she explained.

She works 5 hours a week and earns over $9,000 a month in a job few people want: “I always say that the dirtier the better”
Turning necessity into a strength—it’s more than just a saying. It reflects a mindset rooted in Stoic philosophy, dating back over 2,300 years to Ancient Greece, when Zeno of Citium, a man who could have lived a wealthy life, chose instead to dedicate himself to thinking and teaching in Athens. From disadvantages, come advantages. It’s a life philosophy that the woman in this story has brought into the modern world.
At just 21 years old, Charlotte Bosanquet employs nine people and provides a service that few would be willing—or able—to take on: cleaning homes in extreme conditions. Houses piled with trash, layers of grime, overwhelmingly dirty spaces… and she only does it a few hours a week.
“It’s harder than going to college full-time, at least for me. In the end, cleaning makes more money than a regular 9-to-5. I know it’s not for everyone—not everyone wants to scrub toilets—but I find it incredibly rewarding,” she said. Her company, Care Cleaning Agency, was born out of the pandemic, after she lost her job. Although her dream was to become a police officer, she put that aside to face a more urgent need: survival.
She sees cleaning as almost therapeutic. “I always say, the dirtier the better.” Just weeks after launching her business in Sydney, she was flooded with hundreds of requests to clean homes in extreme conditions. Through this life change, she realized how meaningful it was for her to transform filthy, neglected homes into livable, clean, and orderly spaces.
She works Monday to Friday, five hours a day, with weekends off. And she earns up to $9,700 a month. She points out that people often look down on cleaning professionals and don’t consider it a “real job,” but she says she’s never worked harder in her life.
