Update:

Federal prosecutors have revealed how much time they believe Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs should serve in prison for his charges.

Back in September 2024, Combs was arrested and charged with multiple serious federal crimes, including racketeering, sex trafficking, and transporting individuals for prostitution.

In July of the following year, a jury delivered a mixed verdict: acquitting him of the heavier charges of racketeering and sex trafficking, but convicting him on two counts under the Mann Act for transporting individuals across state lines for prostitution. These charges have seen Combs has remain behind bars at the Brooklyn detention centre, as a judge denied bond requests citing concerns over witness safety and his alleged history of violence.

“This Court should impose a sentence of no less than 135 months’ imprisonment”

As sentencing looms on October 3, 2025, those involved in making the decision on his punishment remain divided over what is appropriate. Prosecutors have asked that Combs receive a sentence of 135 months — that is, over eleven years in prison — arguing that his conduct was serious, violent, and showed no remorse.

U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton wrote: “consistent with those cases and based on the corroborated evidence presented at trial, this Court should impose a sentence of no less than 135 months’ imprisonment."

Cassie Ventura, Combs’s former girlfriend who gave a testimony at the trial, said that Combs’ sex parties left her with infections, illnesses, and days of physical and emotional exhaustion before he demanded it all again.”

She added that “sex acts became a full-time job, used as the only way to stay in his good graces."

On the other side, Combs’s legal team is pushing for leniency, citing “rehabilitation,” the time he’s already served (over a year), and what they describe as a lack of precedent linking such behaviour to long terms. They are asking for a cap of fourteen months or even credit for time served. His legal team argued that the sex offender’s “celebrity status in the realms of music, fashion, spirits, media, and finance has been shattered and Mr. Combs’s legacy has been destroyed."
