Obviously, neither JFK nor LAX: This is the best airport in the U.S. in 2025, according to travelers
Travellers have had their say on which is the best airport in the United States.

Overheated lounges? Cramped walkways? Dirty toilets? Expensive food? What’s your favourite part of being at the airport?
Well, the 2025 J.D. Power North America Airport Satisfaction Study (yes, this is real) has revealed its results this year, and the Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) has again claimed the top spot among “mega” airports, achieving a score of 660 out of 1,000. This marks the second consecutive year MSP has led the rankings, a reflection of its consistent performance in passenger satisfaction.
The study surveyed over 30,000 passengers between July 2024 and July 2025, taking various elements of one’s airport journey into account: How easy it is to travel through an airport, the level of trust or confidence in an airport, facilities, airport staff, departure and arrival experiences, and food and retail.
“We’re still seeing record numbers of travellers...they are enjoying the experience”
In the “large” airport category, John Wayne Airport in Orange County, California, has maintained its position as the leader, scoring 730 points. It is followed by Tampa International Airport (709) and Dallas Love Field (705), which have also shown strong performances.
Among “medium” airports, Ontario International Airport in Southern California has made notable moves forward in the ranking, moving up to second place with a score of 709, just behind Indianapolis International Airport, which continues to hold the top position. Buffalo Niagara International Airport rounds out the top three in this category.
Michael Taylor, managing director of travel, hospitality and retail at J.D. Power. said that “while the annual growth rate in passenger volume seems to be levelling off, we’re still seeing record numbers of travellers pass through the nation’s airports, and, for the most part, they are enjoying the experience."

“A big part of this recent increase in passenger satisfaction is due to recently completed improvements in many airport facilities themselves. A few big capital improvement projects have now been completed and many more are underway or about to break ground. A decades long trend of bringing unique, local flavor to the passenger experience has positively impacted the airport experience with these local touches having a major influence on passenger satisfaction.”
